Vineyard Notes

100% Estate, Coles Valley Vineyard - A selection of our favorite barrels from our estate vineyard, this wine benefits from the warm days and cool nights of the Umpqua Valley, developing richness and concentration while maintaining fresh, food-friendly fruit flavors. Blocks 3, 7, and 2, Clones 115, 777, and Pommard, elevation 300-435 feet, Oakland soils, planted 2010 and 2017.

Winemaker Notes

The fruit was 100% destemmed with a high percentage of whole berries to mixed size fermenters divided by vineyard block. The wine was pumped over daily during a four day cold soak. The small lots were fermented for an average of fourteen days, hand punched or pumped over two times
daily. The wine was aged ten months in mixed French cooperage, which was 17% new with an average age of two years before blending.

Vintage Notes

2020 began with a cool, wet spring. Budbreak was tracking in a normal pattern, while rain during bloom caused yields to be lower than normal -focusing concentration of berry and flavor development. A cooler than normal July and August helped the fruit ripen steadily and we harvested this vineyard in early September. The 2020 wines are marked by concentrated fruit flavors, richness, and intensity.
