2020 Rascal Chardonnay Umpqua Valley

Some wines take themselves too seriously. This one doesn't — and that's exactly the point.

Rascal Chardonnay comes from Coles Valley Vineyard, a standout site along the Umpqua River in Southern Oregon where hot days, cold nights, and afternoon coastal breezes do all the right things to white wine grapes. The 2020 vintage added one more edge: lower-than-normal yields from a cool, rainy bloom that concentrated every berry before a perfect September harvest.

Single vineyard. Fermented block by block, clone by clone. Aged sur lie for texture and richness. No shortcuts, no heavy oak — just a Chardonnay that tastes like where it came from.

Citrus zest, white peach, and honeysuckle on the nose. Crisp and refreshing through the midpalate, with ripe peach filling out before a clean mineral finish. Chill it down and pour freely.
